For a man who had such an impact on the life and work of Rumi, we know surprisingly very little about Shams e Tabrizi.
Im trying to gather as much info, especially legends, traditions and popular myths about this man.I would appreciate any info/material anyone out there might have. Thanks

Sun, January 27, 2008 - 5:40 PMColman Barks wrote a bit about him. I cannot remember anything off the top of my head, but I do know that he is a devoted student o Rumi. Try The Essential Rumi. That might help some. Just found this on the net.

Re: Shams-e-Tabrizi
Tue, January 29, 2008 - 3:36 PMsure i will. I have a friend whose grandfather read and studied alot about Rumi when he was a student at the Madrassa (school)in there home town in Iran. The teachings and books of Rumi were banned at that time but it didnt deter him from his passion. He is an old man now approx 80years old and his arabic is weak so i need my friend to translate whenever i meet him.
He told me amazing things about Shams e tabrizi- things that although are unlikely to be true are still nevertheless very interesting.
