hey,
does anyone know of a rumi poem with bees-- or anything to do with bees--honey, nectar, honeycomb...etc?
we are seeking beautiful poetry to do with bees, for a film about pollinators, from the perspective of the sacred...
would cherish any tips.
many thanks

Re: bees
Thu, July 3, 2008 - 11:18 AMLook how desire has changed in you,
how light and colorless it is,
with the world growing new marvels
because of your changing. Your soul
has become an invisible bee. We
don't see it working, but there's
the full honeycomb! Your body's height,
six feet or so, but your soul rises
through nine levels of sky. A barrel
corked with earth and a raw wooden
spile keeps the oldest vineyard's wine
inside. When I see you, it is not so
much your physical form, but the company
of two riders, your pure-fire devotion
and your love for the one who teaches you;
then the sun and moon on foot behind those.

Re: bees
Fri, July 11, 2008 - 7:17 AMHmm... the Spanish poet, Antonio Machado used bees as metaphor in his work
From: Last Night
Last night, as I was sleeping,
I dreamt--marvellous error!--
that I had a beehive
here inside my heart.
And the golden bees
were making white combs
and sweet honey
from my old failures.
From CLIX: Songs
V
Moon at full, moon at full
so swollen and so round
in this March night, so still
honeycomb of light
worked by bees pure white!

Re: bees
Wed, July 16, 2008 - 6:54 PM"You are in love with me,
I shall make you perplexed.
Do not build much,
for I intend to have you in ruins.
If you build two hundred houses
in a manner that the bees do;
I shall make you as homeless as a fly.
If you are the mount Qaf in stability.
I shall make you whirl like a millstone."
I found that at www.rumi.org.uk/ , but there was no label - it's a good site and perhaps they can help you in your search
