i am looking for a couple of really meaningful poems or quotes from rumi (my fellow libran soulmate) that have him depicting eros (love), the divine and hopefully the feminine role in it.
My resubmission for my dissertation proposal is nearing (feb 8th) and although i've got a couple, and many on my page, i dont know if they're quite right. I've googled a few sites, but none have been too helpful ... if any of you fellow rumi-mates have anything in mind, i'd LOVE to hear it!!!!
many thanks, and i'll keep checking here and have one from haziz too ... gibran next ...

Re: Hey there - a lil bit of reumination needed here ...
Sat, January 31, 2009 - 9:51 PM"If you want what visible reality
can give, you're an employee.
If you want the unseen world,
you're not living your truth.
Both wishes are foolish,
but you'll be forgiven for forgetting
that what you really want is
love's confusing joy."
Rumi - from "On Gambling"
Translated by Coleman Barks
There's a divine part, well, one in 20,000 ghazals -

Sun, February 1, 2009 - 6:20 PMHere's a link to some more Rumi quotes that might be useful to you:

Or better yet, pick up a copy of The Essential Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks. Though not comprehensive (or fully to everyone's taste in translation - the Rumi-philes), it's a good place to start and the most generally available and accessible text. Good luck -

Wed, February 4, 2009 - 7:50 PMI think, lots of Rumi's poems "have him depicting eros (love), the divine and hopefully the feminine role in it." Though eros and the femine usually symbolise something else, I am told. Just like in Tagore. Should not be hard. You could also add something to do with drinking wine.
And please, Eurynome, it is not Haziz, the man's name is Hafiz. Just a typo, right?
